How to Remove 'More Like This'

Journal Entry: Fri Jan 25, 2013, 5:41 AM

So last week I wrote a journal on the intrusive eyesore that is the "More Like This" feature. Tons of people complained to HQ that we preferred it as a button, and why.

Our Suggestions:

- Revert it back to a button.  It's still  button for a few Deviants, how hard is it to take it back to that?
- Make it collapsible or Drop Down menu.
- Move it further down the page, past the artists information and "More from this artist".
-  Make it smaller than the the thumbnails of the artists own work.
- Make it customizable so we can choose what we feature beside our own artwork. As of now, it's advertising our old crap AND Scraps. (as well as other people's art we don't want there) I had to store my Scraps so they wouldn't show up in it :stare:
- show LESS thumbnails.
- The distribution of exposure is terribly unfair. many people are forced to advertise others, while some deviants only advertise their own work.

It's a good feature, and good idea, no one is suggesting we scrap it. but as it is now, it's rather distracting and poorly placed. That's it. We aren't poo-pooing all the work that went into making it.

However, in the true spirit of Deviantart, they completely ignore the overwhelmingly negative feedback, as well as some very reasonable concerns and suggestions . You can make your opinion known here :

I see what you did there Deviantart :stare:.

I found this posted in a thread; a way to disable More Like This on our own:

This takes it off of your own view- it doesn't disable your artwork from being put into the mix of the system ( or your scraps and old crap. If you don't want your Scraps showing, you have to put them in Storage).

**** if you use it, it's polite to comment or :+fav: the deviation.

agree with you! I really DISLIKE that feature! :stare:
The problem for me is it always shows random crap that has nothing to do with what I do. I'm starting to think that it just does it by tags.

Hello, I know this isnt the time or place for this, but I dont know who else to ask this too, Do you know what, This More like this is? I in it and its too random because I only just now heard about it,  Im sorry if this question dumb or if im an idiot for asking, But I dont know who else to ask.
 It's no problem.

More Like This was introduced 10 months ago. This is the HQ journal explaining it:

However, it was hated- and people fought and fought to have it altered. What you see now is the end result compromise.

Have you siggested this in help desk suggestions forum?^^
Well this journal is from February and there's been steady complaints from thousands of users- now they're Beta testing one of the suggestions :3

( not that its because of me, but they're making the "More From This Artist" a larger panel to the right of deviations that takes precedence over More Like This )

I've read DA works on:
"- Move it further down the page, past the artists information and "More from this artist".
-  Make it smaller than the the thumbnails of the artists own work."
while it needs to be customisable too and I see they are silent about this issue.

But, if they put it all the way down, doesn't that negate it's purpose? It makes it less visible, and it would be irritating to have to scroll past everything to find it.
