Commission Changes

Journal Entry: Thu Jan 10, 2013, 1:37 PM

Now that I'm through a batch of commissions ( I never heard back from the last person on my list, but it's totally fine) , I have to make some changes. I found last year that one of the problems I had was that for some people, I could not really envision their characters the way I would like. So when I take a new batch, I might have to turn a few people down if after I hear what they want I can't find any inspiration.
This isn't a  judgment on people's characters/concepts, I just don't like struggling to do something or avoiding commissions because I can't get into them. It slowed everything up for me ( and I'm pretty slow anyways D: ) I like to do the best I can on each one, so this is just as much for a potential customer as it is for myself.

 I hope people understand that.

I will be waiting a little bit before opening a few slots to focus on some art for myself.

I hope people don't mind me doing some different things sometimes. I know a lot of people watch certain artists for reasons, and if someone started drawing, for example,  nothing but ponies after they had been drawing zombies for 5 years, that would be hard to take :XD:. I don't anticipate this happening with me, however I know my last painting was probably a bit odd to some of my watchers.

But like many people, I like video games, ghosts and zombies and stuff too ;P.  It's good for any artist to change it up sometimes and be versatile I think. It pushes skill and challenges people to try things in different ways.

It's also fun 8D.

I started back at the gym this week with a friend of mine.

I am soooo sore . It's for health right?

Heh, I get it. I've written a few things for fandoms other than FF7 in the past few months, I'm sure some of my followers are probably wondering WTF. But you take inspiration wherever you can find it, right? And variety is good. :)

Pewdiepie cracks me up. :XD: I have to remember to wear headphones when watching him with my kid in the room though, the guy loves to drop f-bombs. Not that I don't, but yanno. lol

Absolutely understand what you mean with inspiration u.u that's why I stated that I won't draw any Sailor Moon OCs in commissions, always when I have to draw them I get a huge block, no matter how creative I was before :/

But you did the right thing to say it beforehand, so everybody knows :)

Good luck with your commissions, your art is simply great, no matter what you draw, as long as you have fun with it, it's beautiful

I think you changed it up well with your last work. It was different, but it wasn't THAT different. I agree that changing from Zombies to Ponies is a bit rough. It's kind of like when someone 'falls out' of a fandom and just stops drawing the characters and then goes onto a new fandom - I don't like that. I watched the artist for their style, but if I really dislike the new fandom, it's discouraging for me. However, someone like you has a lot of potential. I'd like to see lots of different works by you. I enjoy your Final Fantasy works, but I also loved the PewDiePie one as well as your Sesshomaru one and many others.

I love seeing different things in your art! Anything you draw will be interesting, even if it's not the reason I watched you - variation is the spice of life :)

hey if people complain piss on them. You should be able to do what you want as long as you turn them down politely. I've learned if I try and force myself to make something it turns out bad.

Dude, if anyone complains then they ain't a fan. I wanna see more of dat fan dancing oc of yours (& that picture of your mom that you mentioned-yay comment stalking~ XD).

As for your dilemma, I understand you since not everyone has an interesting design, has a poorly written backstory or they just ask WAY too much via the infamous "wall o' text". It's really stressful to do those & even if you do write rules about, they think that money might be above all so rejecting/accepting on a case by case basis makes sense.

I don't see why it should be a problem. In my opinion, politely turning down their request is better than trying to force out a picture you aren't happy with, or one that you feel isn't up to your usual standard. And as far as doing something different, you have to draw whatever inspires you. :D
