Embracing Sin by K-Koji Embracing Sin by K-Koji
Commission for :iconxenobiacat: of Undertaker ( from Kuroshitsuji) and :iconstickiebun13: 's original character Jase Dubois.

Jase is kind of a human/doll- he's not quite alive; "Jase has a stitching scar around his forehead, from the procedure done on him to turn him into a bizarre doll."

The name of the piece was Xenobia's idea :meow:

*stock used is my own, with license

In this setting if there was nothing there but the stone wall and structure, then the feel of this picture would be cold, sober, alert, mysterious, anticipating, and even a little dismal.

I did read the caption to this picture where you said that Jase Dubois, the captive, had some brain surgery so that he could be a better doll to Undertaker.  But I'm going to comment on this picture as though you had never said any of it.  In fact, the picture itself is in conflict with what you wrote in the caption.  If Jase was really just a doll, unable to act or do anything out of free will, then why does his facial expression look awkward and inner conflict instead of dead and stoic?

Let's take Jase Dubois out of this picture like a sticker and put him on a white piece of paper for a moment.  The scar on his forehead really doesn't show too much, almost like you didn't want too admit to you're viewers that he had that scar.  But without it, I could see Jase being a very studious college student.  I could see him majoring in business, history, or even a social science.  I could see him making really good grades, and even graduating in the top 10% of his class.  But whenever a girl or another gay guy develops and interest in him as a significant other, he can turn very cold and be very distant.  Maybe because he doesn't like for people to get too close too him, because that is where he is his weakest.  But inwardly, he actually does have fantasies of being intimately close to someone and being pleasured by them.  Or else why does Jase look so awkward and so incapacitated by Undertaker's spell in this picture?

The flowers in the top right of the picture and the bottom left, along with the image of a full moon behind them - they all relate to how Undertaker is manipulating and seducing Jase in this picture.  The manipulation is so strong that Jase can feel the full moon behind them and see those flowers.  Undertaker, in the above picture is talking to Jase in a steady pace with a nice soft and smooth voice.  Undertaker is also holding Jase in a way that is seemingly gentle but also very controlled and timed.  Undertaker's touch is just the right amount of pressure so as to have Jase under his spell.  Undertaker is actually asexual but he likes to use sexuality as a way of manipulating others; as a means to get power.  On a number of levels Undertaker is really leading Jase into a seemingly fantasy come true that Jase has always had deep inside.  Undertaker's hand on that rose means to me that he really has hold over Jase's heart.  The red ribbons coming from Jase, to me, means that Undertaker has Jase in the position to now really come out with some things that are very personal and sensuous.

So in this picture I see Jase as being in a state of inner conflict.  On the one hand he loves the attention that Undertaker is giving him and the things that he is telling him.  But he also knows that Undertaker is very evil and cannot be trusted.  But he can't help but be under Undertaker's spell.  But going back to the stone wall that I mentioned at the beginning, Undertaker would have Jase end up dead in the end.

What I liked about this picture is that with great detail, you did a good job at depicting evil without committing any act of violence.  Here in this picture, you define evil by how deeply Undertaker is able to penetrate Jase; the depths to which he is able to penetrate is core and soul.  Here you define evil by the boundaries that Undertaker is willing to cross; similar to what I would see in the anime series of DeathNote.

With a limited color scheme you really created something that has depth and meaning.  The picture is a little dark because there is a seriousness that goes with what is taking place in the picture.  You really know how to define evil at times in your artwork.

You did a Fabulous Job! Clap Clap deviantART deviantART deviantART Clap Clap

Hello, Owner of Jase Dubois, here.

I must say you are both very close and really far off in your assumptions of the story Xenobiacat and I wrote together. Maybe you should go ahead and read it?

A Bizarre Doll isn't actually a dead and emotionless Doll like you are thinking. It's a race that Undertaker created and can turn people into. In retrospect, it is like how a vampire or werewolf can be created. only rather than through a bite, it takes a surgical procedure on his mind and soul. Undertaker use it to save Jase's life as he was dying. Jase still has all his emotions and memories. and yes, he is very torn as his whole world view had been changed from it. Everything he thought he knew changed. And most of all, he struggles with his sexuality. He grew up thinking being gay was wrong, yet here he was slowly falling in love with a man. Undertaker himself is very sexual, but he takes on a more sensual approach, waiting for the object of his affections to embrace his own feelings. He doesn't want to push Jase into anything too fast.

This commission my partner paid K-Koji to do for our story is supposed to represent so much of their relationship. beginning, middle, and hinting at the end. Koji did a wonderful job representing it based on the information we gave him.

Though, I like the idea of Jase being a college student XD You're right, he would be in the top of his class. But more in the medical field as he loves helping people. The whole story you fabricated is an interesting one, and it may be interesting to pick apart and maybe explore sometime.

I'm glad that you enjoyed what I wrote in the above.  I just know all too well how people like Undertaker are extremely manipulative.  I know how someone like him cannot just lie in the spoken word, but also has to lie in so many other ways.  I just really see him as the kind who would like to control someone else emotionally.  That's why it really looked like Undertaker was manipulating Jase by giving him attention that he longs for deep down but never gets from other guys.

But I'm glad that you explained in more detail as to how Jase became a doll.  I'm also glad that I was able to give you good ideas about Jase like being a college student and all.  :) (Smile)

I like writing, but I also like to positively affect other artists with my gift of writing.  If you would like for me to come up with some type of story for your art or characters, please feel free to give me a challenge, and I'll see what I can come up with.  :D (Big Grin) :) (Smile)

Have you ever read or watched the series? Have you ever read the story? You seem to be making assumptions on a very limited knowledge of both. Regardless of how this particular fact irks me, I do appreciate that you seem to be trying to be of a fair mind. Perhaps you could try reading or watching the series or even reading the fanfiction, before drawing your conclusions. You don't "know" the character. You just assume that you do based on your perception of the art.  I would also remind you that this was a commission piece based on an original character and my own particular head canon of the Undertaker. Please be so kind as to read the story before making judgments on the art, considering I paid Koji to draw it this way, based on how the story itself went. Unless you are Yana Toboso herself, I really don't see how your personal interpretation of the Undertaker is more canonically correct than ours.

I have thought about watching the series.  And "YES," I will make the time to watch every episode so that I can make more accurate comments about Undertaker and other characters in the story.  I will even go back and make corrections myself to my own commentary.

But I'm very glad that you wrote to me everything in the above.  I will take it to heart and let you know what I thought about the series after watching it. :) (Smile)

Thank you for having an open mind. If you choose to watch/read the series, I have little doubt your perceptions of Undertaker might change and you'll find it all highly entertaining.
