This is picture could have been very harsh to look at since there was a lot of black. But it's actually nice on the eyes because you used various shades of gray between what is black and white. On the corners of this picture I see black flowers and a ribbon on the top right; but they're all black. In the anime his parents died when he was very young, and afterwards, he kept everyone around him at a distance. It would amaze me at times at how Ciel could be so cold and distant with people that were very good to him. And he must have been all of 9 to 11 years of age. So again, when I look at the corners of the pictures, I see the black flowers and that ribbon as being symbolic of those things previously mentioned. This may also be the reason for why the right part of his top is draped with black roses.
The main subject of this picture is Ciel, Sebastian really was an extension of Ciel in the anime since he was there because of the pact that Ciel agreed to. Ciel's clothes are all black and everything is in place as if his clothes were going to be subject to a military type inspection. When I look at Ciel's face he looks a little older here than he does in the anime. In fact, he almost looks like Edward Furlong from Terminator 2. But Ciel looks like he's on top of things, cold, harsh, and calculating - because he was. He also looks very strong willed in this picture for which he was.
Just like in the anime, Sebastian looks friendlier than Ciel. He also looks very sharp and professional. I like that black wing on Sebastian's back; maybe some don't notice it at first because it blends in with the background very nicely.
Essentially, you did a better job of illustrating Ciel in this picture than what the anime did in all the episodes. I guess there were some things about his character that really stood out to you at times and may have even bothered you.
Very Well Illustrated! Keep Going! & Happy Valentine's Day!
I know what you're saying. I'm glad that you make Ciel look older.
In Physics, darkness is defined as the absence of light. And so there is a darkness that goes with illustrating Ciel Phantomhive because in him there is an absence of the light of human life. This is why it is good that you always depict Ciel in very dark backgrounds. I'm glad that his coldness bothered you sometimes.
This is amazing, the colours, the characters, the light, the perspective, the anatomy, perfect. And a perfect combination between realistic and semi-realistic. I love it~! 8D I wish I'll be able to draw like that someday... >w<
